So I haven’t had very good access to internet in the past couple weeks… so I forgot to post this blog… I wrote it on Monday, March 29th.
There’s something about flying into your home turf. I noticed it when I made my move to New York March 13th of last year. Whenever I flew into Southern California, I felt a little more at ease—like I could breathe a little better. So I am happy to say that I am breathing a little better this week! Can’t believe San Diego week is here!! I am really looking forward to catching up with family, college friends, high school friends, even elementary school friends! It’s also my 23rd birthday on Friday!! Talk about perfect timing! I’m sure by the end of the week, I’ll have some fun stories to tell ☺
The past 2 weeks have been pretty busy. We are back to the one weekers (as in sit down in a city for only one week) for quite some time. And by quite some time I mean we have one weekers until we are in Cincinnati on May 10th.
San Jose was such a beautiful and busy week! The weather was absolutely PERFECT! SO nice ☺ I am so grateful to all of those who were able to come out and see the show! I have to send an apology to those people I wasn’t able to connect with or only see for a split second. But I cannot thank you enough for your support and for taking the time/money to come see the show. I feel truly blessed and humbled.
Besides being able to see so many AMAZING friends, some other highlights of the week included my family. My cousin Lauren went to school in San Jose so it was so nice to connect with her over coffee and movie dates. To top it off, my Aunt Karen (her mom flew up from LA to see the show and spend some girl time. She brought her bag of hair tricks and did our hair (see my new obsession section below) then we had a fabulous time going out to lunch and shopping. I also had a wonderful visit with my Vava, Vavoo, Aunt Suzy, Aunt Tracey, Great Grandma Ginny, and cousins: Kailee, Makena, and Bryley! I am so so grateful to you all.
Salt Lake was pretty mellow. Highlights of the week: doing Elle in understudy rehearsal, Rhiannon went on as Elle for her hometown, we celebrated 3 birthdays, and we had a very very fun Sunday night playing Celebrity. If you have never played Celebrity before… GET ON IT! I don’t think I have laughed that hard in such a long time.
I know I said it before, but I am constantly reminded of all you wonderful people in my life. You are all such blessings. Thank you for your support and encouragement. I am so grateful for my cast mates… you make this job such a wonderful adventure. And my friends and family… no words. So much gratitude and love is being sent from me to you. : )
Love you guys!!

Current obsession: The Brazilian Blowout: a treatment my aunt did in my hair in San Jose and back in December. I literally just blow dry my hair and it is straight and I am ready for the day. For all you wavy hair people out there: check it out!
Current Book: The Puppy Whisperer… yep I am currently on the puppy prowl (I’ll get into it in a later blog update).
Quote of the week: “The past is history, the future is a mystery, but this moment is a gift which is why it’s called the PRESENT.”
Current Goal: Accept that gift aka Live in the present moment.
Song of the Week: “Vanilla Twilight” by Owl City.

Sleepless in Seattle...
...literally...sleepless. Brain has been on overload so I have been quite the night owl. Hopefully things will start to settle down... but in the meantime melatonin (natural sleep aid) is my best friend. : )
Last week here in Seattle… can’t believe it!!! Very bitter sweet. I don’t want to leave, but it just means that I get to go to San Jose and see lots of amazing friends and family in Norcal!! AND it also means that San Diego is coming soon… all my SoCal people!! So nice to be on the west coast! : ) Lots to look forward to… but I will miss my time here.
Some highlights of this past week: I had a fabulous time with Matt Lawrence (high school friend who moved here). I got to see his amazing place in Mercer Island, go to Bellevue with him, and then go to the body exhibit here in Seattle. It’s so nice to catch up with him and get to meet the people in his life here. I’ve been spending a lot of time at Pike’s Market… the best place to people watch. ☺ Not in a stalkerish way (haha)… people are just interesting. I’ve been walking on the waterfront a lot. I took my Elle Harvard law headshot (picture below) and had my final Elle fittings. I am officially ready to go on! All the finishing touches are done. Yayyyy!! My website has been updated (finally)!! The girl that designed my website disappeared on me… so my beloved friend Jonathan Rayson (who plays Aaron Schultz in the show) saved the day and has been updating it for me. www.ashleymoniz.com And lastly, last night we had girls night in. Our company manager hosted a Legally Blonde ladies night for us and rented out the Presidential Suite in our hotel. Lets just say we had an AMAZING time.
Plans I hope fall into play this week: Going to the space needle, seeing Alice in Wonderland, more adventures to Pikes and the waterfront, and getting a massage!
In other news: My Vacation is coming up! Booked my tickets to NY for a quick fun visit! Taking a red eye late April 8th and I go back to tour April 13th in Milwaukee. So excited to see people! Speaking about people… LB is losing and gaining some people this week. Our fabulous vacation swing, Casey, is here for a couple weeks as all of us go on vacay. Sara Shepherd is BACK!!! She was Kate/Chutney when I came into the show… now she is the new Mom. Sad to lose the hilarious J.B. Wing… but we are all excited for her plans to move back to NY. She seems very happy to move on… but she shall be missed. I am also heartbroken to lose one of my partners in crime: Alex Puette. He is a fellow 2009 graduate (he graduated from Michigan) and a fellow swing. The fabulous and hilarious Josh Walden is replacing him so that is wonderful… but I am sad for Alex to go. Very very sad… he brings a whole lotta joy to my life. Love you JB and AP!! Knock em dead in the citay!! As far as me… I plan on staying to the end. Can’t believe it has been 6 months on tour… 5 months left and they offered me another rider to stay on board until the end. So I look forward to the next 5 months of adventures and learning a whole lot more. ☺ Bring it on!!
After going on for 3 tracks (including a combo track)/7 shows last week…here’s the update:

Thank God for Coffee: Trip to "Buckies," crazy swing week, and adventures
Starbucks (aka "buckies" thanks to Kathleen Monteleone) amazes me. I am sitting here at a Starbucks on 6th and Union in Seattle, there are 2 just around the corner on the same block, another one a block over, one in the Barnes and Noble by that starbucks, so on and so on…and then right down the street is the first Starbucks ever. Liberty (the new Kate/Chutney) and I are sitting in comfy chairs with books, coffee, and our computers while we people watch. Across from me is a couple who are on a blind date. I can tell because both are dressed up (for coffee…), their body language screams “I AM ON A BLIND DATE,” and because I heard them say “So Jim says you are from…and that you…wow that’s great…ya that’s great.” There are two women to my right who are having a business meeting hence all the files and paperwork being passed around. Then there are the 2 hunky suits that just came in for lunch break. A man reading the newspaper alone, 2 friends catching up, Oh…yep… and there are the tourists who are taking pictures. There’s no reason for me to be writing about this right now… I guess it’s appropriate because this is where it all started. But really I am just pointing out the fact that Starbucks is quite the phenomenon.
One week down in Seattle and it was THE CRAZIEST week ever! Lets just say my new track tally is:
Stenographer: approx. 40 times
Judge: 3 times
Mom: approx. 10 times
DA: 2 times
Kate/Chutney: approx. 8.5 times
Combo Tracks: 2 times
Enid: 1 time
Just in last week I played Mom on Tuesday and Wednesday, Kate/Chutney on Friday, The Judge Saturday Matinee, Mom Saturday Night, and Stenographer both shows Sunday. 4 Tracks in 7 shows! Since I have been on tour, there has not been a full swing show. Last week we had 2 full swing shows (that’s all 4 of us swings on… if one more person would have called out… all hell would have broken loose). Here’s an example:

Besides craziness, Seattle has been a fabulous host to us Legally Blonders. Some fun galas and such (pictures below). I was so excited to meet up with my friend Matt Lawrence, his sister aka my brother’s girlfriend Sarah, their fabulous Mom, and their fabulous friends! Matt moved to Seattle not too long ago and it just so happened that they were able to visit the same time I am here! So they came to the Sunday night show and we went to a FABULOUS Chocolate Bar afterwards… the chocolate sunday I got should be illegal. Such a great time and so happy to have 2 more weeks here! Who knows what can happen. ☺
Some of the ladies at Natalie’s WHEN IN ROME party

The ‘05ers (as in we all graduated High School in 2005) at the Opening Night Party

Sara Andreas, DB Bonds, Kathleen Monteleone, Michael Rupert, Barry Anderson, and I at opening night Gala

Liberty and I are Natalie’s WHEN IN ROME party

I have had a few of you ask for more pics… my video camera and camera batteries both died died died. But I finally bought new batteries and should be getting them soon. So stay tuned! I promise to be better about that : )
Current Obsession: Cooking!! We have a full kitchen and I have been cooking my little heart out. Some favorite New creations: **sliced sweet potato sauteed in a frying pan (coated with Organic Olive Oil Spray) like mini pancakes. ** 1 pounded plain grilled chicken breast with side salad chopped papaya, small avocado, cilantro, lime juice, shallot, spinach** 1/2 cup cooked quinoa, Steamed asparagus and kale, with one hard-boiled egg.
Current Goal: Journal more and have more quiet/peaceful time.
Current Book: looking for one… I started the Sookie Stackhouse series but I just love True Blood the show so much that it was hard to read it. I don’t want to find out what will happen next season.
Current TV Show: Netflixing “BIG LOVE” and Huluing (haha) “White Collar”
Current Song on Repeat: “Legacy” by Nichole Nordeman
Thing I can’t live without: COFFEE! After last week… my brain was definitely over stimulated and so coffee was my very best friend. I should ease off of it for a bit… or not.
Last Movie I Saw: RUN to see “Blind Side” if you haven’t already. SOOOO GOOOD!
That’s all for now… excited to take my vacation soon (the week after San Diego: April 5-13th). As of now the plan is I’ll be in California April 5-8 Then NY April 9-13th!! Yayy).
Sending lots of love and happy wishes!

Thank You Pacific Northwest!!!
Hello from the Fabulous Seattle, Washington!!
Current weather: rainy... but still beautiful. I LOVE IT HERE!!!
We are here for 3 weeks!!!! Yayyyy finally a place to really unpack and relax. Portland was absolutely beautiful but, like I said before, we were in rehearsal and shows the entire week. Even so, two GREAT things happened!
1. Marc Bruni (the associate director) came to see the show and I was able to have an Elle work session with him. As a replacement, it is very rare that the creative team can sit you down and work through stuff with you. He was so passionate and had some amazing things to say about Elle Woods’ journey. It really helped me ad some extra layers to her. Pretty cool stuff!
2. I had my ENID debut during the Sunday night show!!!! It was also my Principal debut!! Enid wears clothes that are baggy and flat shoes so I looked like a little girl dressing up in her dad’s clothes… BUT it was so much fun! I just adore my cast mates. They really helped me laugh my way through the show and just enjoy the moment. It was the first time I was apart of the legal team. ☺ Everyone was so supportive and lovely… I just had a blast.
It was also an exciting week because our two show Elle, Kathleen Monteleone, is from Portland so we had an amazing audience every night. I think I mentioned before that she was in the Top 4 of Grease: You’re the One that I Want. So she has a ton of fans that have been following her career from Portland. So it was thrilling to have such a responsive crowd. Poor Rhiannon (our Margot) hurt her back in Denver and was out the first half of the week. But it was cool for Kathleen to go on as Margot (her other understudy role), her own track as the Stenographer, and Elle! Busy busy girl! Sunday night after the show, her family hosted a party at the hotel bar and I was surprised to see my headshot photographer, Paul Gregory, there! Small small world… turns out he is good friends of Kathleen and her husband. So it was nice to catch up with him for a bit too. So even though we were in doors for most of Portland, it was a busy and beautiful week!
Updates on track count (including today’s Seattle show) is:
Stenographer: approx. 38 times
Enid: 1 time
Mom: approx. 8 times. (planned to go on tomorrow for Mom too… so it will be 9)
As far as cities coming up… I am so excited for visitors!!! Just an FYI… it is always safe to say I am the Stenographer on Sundays. So… if you feel the need to buy tickets ASAP… buy them for Sundays because I know that is for sure when I am on. In San Jose, however, I will be on Thursday Night, Saturday Matinee, and Sunday. San Diego is still up in the air… but prob for sure Sunday. Stay tuned for the updates on that one. ☺
Current Obsession: THE PIKES PLACE MARKET here in Seattle!!! One of my favorite memories in High School Musical was coming here and going to Pikes Market as f I was window shopping. It is so entertaining to see the people, the food, the fish being tossed overhead, the art, I could go on and on. One of my favorite places in the entire nation.
Current Book Series: The Sookie Stackhouse Series… the books True Blood is based on. On the first book… aka Season 1. SOOO GOOD!
Current TV Show I am catching up on: Grey’s Anatomy: Not so happy with the 6th Season… hoping it gets better… only on 7th episode. But I AM happy with LOST… well it’s that frustrated happiness. I cannot wait for this season to be over so it all makes sense.
Quick and Easy Meal: (Thanks to Mom): CHILI!! One huge jar of Salsa, a can of black beans, and a can of Kidney Beans... ad some red onion and cilantro… TADA takes 5 minutes and it’ll last ya for days. Me gusta mucho.
Thing I Can’t Live Without: B12 No Stress Vitamins… aka my “happy pill” as my little sister calls it. Gives me energy and a little morning mood boost.
That’s all for now.
Sending Love and Happy Thoughts,
AshMo
P.S. My mom stumbled upon these videos today on youtube and I thought I'd post. 10th grade and 11th Grade in Hart Sound Vibrations... Thank God for showchoir. Those were some amazing days. And then we have UCI Delta Gamma Songfest my sophomore year.

Long Overdue : ) Elle Dates, Recaps, and Currents
Current City: Portland, OR (Feb 15th-22nd)
Current Weather: High 60/Low 40
Roommate for the week: Myself!!! First city where I am having some me time : )
Hey Everyone from Portland, OR!
The weather is BEAUTIFUL, the shopping is amazing, there’s so much to do, and the cast of Legally Blonde is stuck in rehearsals all week long!!! But that’s okay… we have a couple hours to do as we please here and there. It just means we have to be very good about prioritizing our time. ☺
We had quite the 2 weeks in Denver when we came back from a week layoff. The altitude hit us legally blonders pretty hard. People were getting injured left and right… so us swings kept pretty busy (especially the boys… which is not normal). But luckily, people got the rest and relaxation they needed, and most were back by this week.
It was a little joke to blame everything on the altitude… seemed appropriate. ☺
As far as my show life… I am officially 100% done with learning and walking through all 8 tracks I cover! Finished Act 2 of Elle in Denver during understudy rehearsal… and then BIG NEWS BIG NEWS:
I GOT MY OFFICIAL ELLE DATES!!! SUNDAY, MAY 2ND IN OMAHA, NE… BOTH SHOWS! I know it’s far in advance and Omaha isn’t the easiest of places to get to… but if you can go… GO!! ☺ Now that I know the track… I could go on at any time. BUT those are the set dates that are confirmed. Yahoo. And looks like I will be doing Enid the 3rd week of Seattle for a couple performances (the Enid will be going on for Paulette while Paulette takes her vacay).
As far as the other Stats on Tracks… I think I may have left out a few here and there (if I forgot to write down) BUT from my records… in 5 ½ months I have been on for:
Stenographer: approx. 34 times
Judge: 2 times
Mom: approx. 7 times
DA: 2 times
Kate/Chutney: approx. 7.5 times
Combo Tracks: 2 times
My 6 month rider (aka contract) is up at the end of this month… to celebrate, I finally bought myself something I have wanted since high school: The Return to Tiffany Heart tag charm Bracelet. Since Elle wears it in the show, it only seemed appropriate! ☺ I told myself to wait until 6 months was up… but Portland has no sales tax… so why not 2 weeks early. Haha. Thank you Portland!!
Jumping back further in time, I had a beautiful week layoff at home where I got to surprise my dad for his bday party!! It was such a fun party and I was so happy to see family friends that I haven’t seen in YEARS! It was such a great day and really fun to celebrate my dad’s big 5-0!! I was also thrilled to be able to go make a quick Orange County trip and visit with some friends from college. We had a Fall ’05 Delta Gamma Pledge Class Reunion Dinner. It was so nice to dress up and catch up with the girls! Really cool to see where everyone is at now: working at a law firm, going to law school, an accountant, big promotions here and there…. I have such successful friends!! I’m so proud of them!! And it was really fun to see friends in the drama department… get the latest scoop. ☺
From the trip, a lot of people were asking me what I do as a swing… what do I do on stage and off type stuff. So I decided to add a little recommendations/currents section to the blog. For those of you who know me pretty well, you know that I tend to find something I love and get a little obsessed (example TV show, food, book, movie, show, music, etc). Also, while on tour, I find great travel stuff and easy meal stuff. So why not share with you bloggers! If something catches your eye… you should totally check it out!!
Current Obsession: The Twilight Saga (Finished all 4 of the Books and 2 Movies in a week and a half)… bought an Edward Cullen bookmark… counting down until the 3rd Movie comes out at the end of June.
Current Goal: Learn ways to save money… Reading Bitches on a Budget (pardon language… but it’s a GREAT book with some savvy tips). Also hitting up my friend Kathleen and her husband’s site that they helped create called 24savvy.com CHECK IT OUT! Sign up, learn some great savvy tips, and earn prizes!!
Newest Thing I Can’t Live Without: My Hamilton Beach Single Serve Blender (get it at Walmart for around $15!!)
Current thing that gets me through the day: Vega Original Flavor: it’s a protein powder that is a “health food optimizer.” Completely Natural and Gluten Free! Add some stevia and ice and it’s a tasty healthy thang. Plus it is filled with a ton of essential nutrients and vitamins… I feel so much better after having it.
Favorite Quick, Easy to Travel, Yummy Meal: Gluten Free Oatmeal plain and add Stevia and Cinnamon
Current Workout Video Obsession: Tracy Anderson Mat Workout
Current Song I Have on Repeat: “Haven’t Met You Yet” by Michael Buble
Current NetFlix: The First Season of Big Love
Book that I Think EVERYONE needs to get (Thanks Mom!): Living Artfully by Sandra Magsamen: especially for you artists out there. It is a book that really embraces creativity and has some amazing ideas on how you can express yourself. Brings extra happiness! ☺
That’s all for now from the tour world!
Wishing happy thoughts to you all.
Live Artfully,
Ashley Mo

Little Gifts and 2010
Happy New Year Everyone!
Hello from freezing cold Tulsa, OK. It is 11 degrees and I have never been so cold in my life. The hotel is cold, the theatre is cold, outside is unbearably cold, cold, cold, cold. Next stop is Oklahoma City so we’re expecting the same kind of weather. Norfolk (last week) was in the 20s. So the LBers are definitely experiencing the winter. ☺
But on a happy note…I hope everyone had a beautiful Holiday season and safe/fun New Years Eve! We had a 2 week break after Hershey, PA. I felt so blessed to be able to spend it with the many people I love. New York was perfect: ice skating in central park, shopping on 5th Ave, being in my NY home with my NY family. Then I was onto California where my family and I took a road trip up the Cali coast. We stopped in Pismo Beach, San Francisco, went Horse Back Riding on the beach in Half Moon Bay, made a few more fun beach city stops, visited with extended family in Aptos, then ended the trip at my grandparent’s house (mom’s side) for Christmas Eve and Day.
First update of 2010… pretty weird. It’s always surprising to get to the New Year and recap on everything that happened in the year before. 2009 brought many new challenges, struggles, victories, happiness, heartache, tough decisions, easy decisions, goodbyes, hellos, see ya soons, and many changes for me. It has been quite the whirlwind of a year: Finished college classes March 13th, moved to NY March 18th, went through some personal struggle and soul searching while living in NY for 6 months, got to go home for my graduation ceremony in June, booked High School Musical again for a quick run, and now find myself on the Legally Blonde Tour…as a swing and Elle cover of all things. Never would have thought. When Christmas came around, my family and I realized we hadn’t all 5 (6 including Bentley, our dog) been together since my graduation in June. We all have had such crazy lives that we weren’t all in the same place at once. Crazy how 6 months can fly on by that quickly. Crazy how a YEAR can fly on by that quickly.
So in honor of New Years… it’s obviously resolution time (tis the season). Last year, my resolution was one word that kind of summed up all of my goals: TRUST. Trust myself, trust in others, trust in GOD, and so on. That is still something that I am trying to live everyday. Fear likes to creep on in sometimes. And normally the time where I did not trust, I hurt myself, hurt others, and made some mistakes. But that’s life I guess. As human beings, we’re always in “progress” and every day, every mistake, every heart ache, every person, every conversation… it’s all apart of our progress and journey here on Earth. I could go on and on about this… like I said lots of soul searching. This year, for me, one of my main focuses is other people. I would really like the chance to help others, volunteer, get involved, be better at staying in contact with friends and family, being more open to others, being selfless. I had an amazing plane ride from Norfolk to Tulsa where I sat next to a sweet 90 year old man. After writing down my resolutions of being a better friend, he (not knowing anything about me and my goals) started telling me about all the people he has lost in his life and how special everyone is. He started telling me that if he could tell my generation one thing, it would be to stay close to those you love. I was tearing up the whole time as he started telling me about his wife who passed 7 years ago. They were married for 60 years and he said he still goes to bed missing her. When it was time to get off the plane, he turned to me and said “It was a pleasure riding with you” as the flight attendants helped him to his wheel chair. I looked at my friend Alex and just started crying… happy/moved tears. He was a little gift. And the people in my life are gifts. So please know, if I have been bad at staying in contact, my New Years Resolution is to change that. Thank you all for blessing my life in so many ways. I look forward to some new adventures ahead and catching up! :)
So bring on the challenges and lessons, 2010! But also bring on the joy, happiness, and love love love!
I wish lots of love love love to all you bloggers/readers/friends/family.
Happy Happy New Year!
It’s gonna be a good one!
xoxo
